Rajanganaya, Sri Lanka
Found on the outskirts of Rajanganaya, the 2000 Sqft fertilizer factory-cum-office is designed to offer its employees a homely feeling in the work environment. As with our previous works in the dry zone, a simple and rigid form is adopted for easy construction and maintenance.
The use of longer eaves and vertical concrete fins combat the effects of monsoonal rains and distinct dry periods characteristic of the Sri Lankan dry zone while adding a modern brutalist flavor to the outer appearance of the building. Fair-faced finishes and exposed locally found bricks are used throughout to building exterior to withstand the climatic strains and to attain an earthly outer appearance.
Staying true to the mantra of touching the ground lightly, the building is slightly elevated from the ground and rests on pillars to mitigate the impact on flora and fauna while adding a sleek floating touch to the aesthetics.
